At a time when the health crisis is shaking the country and its economy, disrupting scholar programs, immobilizing workers and redefining certain priorities, the need to develop a vision for the future is becoming more urgent every day. One day, there will be a post-Covid-19 era and a return to the "almost" normal.
The world crises of the past century led to society and enterprises having to face major changes. Following the end of World War I, a worldwide decolonization started and an important industrialization process took place was; after World War II, there was the creation of the UN, the Marshall Plan and the birth of the European Community; and when in the year 2000 the internet bubble burst, we saw a major transformation of start-ups into giants such as eBay, Google.
The common feature of all these reconstructions is the need to rebuild trust and solid reputation, based on a strong and long-term vision.
It is therefore more than necessary to look to the future, because the reality we lived so far, especially at a commercial level, could transform more and faster than we could imagine over the next few months.
What are the chances of seeing the widespread application of telework, the banalization of medical consultations by phone, or the massive consumption of online media observed today affecting forever the way we read the newspaper? The chances are at a maximum high.
Consequently, it is better to prepare now and to build a solid vision for the next 5 or even 10 years. We are faced with an urgent need to change the way we work and communicate, to tackle the new challenges of our clients, to support the development of sustainable and solidar activities, and to define priority investments. An example? E-learning. It is clear that this way of access to knowledge based on pear-to-pear exchanges, but also on the intensification of interactivity, will continue its development after the Covid-19 crisis! The efforts the teams put in today to organize these sessions, are at the foundation of a tendency that is likely to become widespread! From that point on, it is only a small step to combine this with the ambition to reduce our carbon footprint, by opting for this type of access to information that no longer requires costly travel.
